thank god for tylenol 3's

so the thing is ... i guess i will never learn ... when something looks infected, that usually means that it is ... act on that ... do NOT wait ... it WILL fuck you up. this is the prologue to my latest adventure which involved that most hated of places ... the dentist chair.

a few quick facts ...
last time i was at the dentist ... 2003
did i go back to get that cavity filled ... no
do i like the dentist at all ... HEEEEELL no

okay, so rewind to about 3 weeks ago ... my jaw, just below my second back molar is a little tender ... first thought, "i should get that looked at" ... result of said thought ... absolutely nothing. i soon forgot about it and moved on.

fastforward to two days ago ... OWWWWW ... my jaw is super tender, i think its looking a little puffy, so i call the dentist and set an appointment for next tuesday. thinking all is right i head to bed, jaw hurting a bit but otherwise fine.

then i wake up this moring ... and HOLY CRAP! my left cheek is noticably swollen and hurts like a mofo. thinking that tuesday might just be a little to far away i call up the dentist and make an appointment for that afternoon. now funny thing ... apparently my dentist and his minion of evil (ie. dental assistant) feel no pity for anyone who does not exercise their participation in the God given gift of dental checkups. so im sitting in that stupid chair with the lady ragging on me about my lack of dental visits, when the dr. walks in with my x-rays.

dentist: "so your tooth is pretty infected"
me: "I FIGURED AS MUCH" ... i dunno, i think it was that huge puss filled sack that was my cheek that was my first clue
dentist: "so we're gonna need to extract the tooth"

so about 15 minutes later, i was down one molar, bleeding like no one business and it looked as though i'd been 10 rounds with those stupid boxing monkey's. luckily my face was still frozen, so although i looked like a fool, at least i was a numb fool.

it was when the freezing finally wore off i realized how much my jaw really hurt, after about half an hour of the uncomfortable feeling of someone stabbing an ice pick into the gapping hole in my mouth i decided to pop a T3 ... and DAMN if that shit isn't amazing. after about 5 minutes the pain was a thing of the past ... anyhow, i spent the rest of my night in relative comfort sipping warm cream of chicken soup.

all in all i guess it could've been a lot worse. i learned a valuable lesson today though ...
if you think it's infected ... get that shit checked out, it might just fuck you up.

hard candy ...

so today we went down to the globe to see the movie 'hard candy' ... what else can i say besides ... wow. it's one of those indie movies that really gets you. it was quite the psychological thriller i must say. it has you on the edge of your seat for the majority of the movie. the acting was good and the plot is full of turns all the while making you question what's really going on.

... plot summary ...

A smart, charming teenage girl, Hayley probably shouldn't be going to a local coffee shop to meet Jeff, a 30-something fashion photographer she met on the Internet. But Hayley's ready to have fun, and soon she's mixing screwdrivers at Jeff's place and stripping for an impromptu photo shoot. It's Jeff's lucky night--until his vision blurs and he passes out. Turns out Hayley isn't as innocent as she looks after all. In fact, she has a lot on her mind. Like getting Jeff to confess to his penchant for teenage girls--and to what he did to Donna Mauer, the girl who disappeared from Jeff's favorite coffee shop. When Jeff awakens, he's tied to a chair. If he doesn't cooperate, Hayley has something to help him along--a little surgical procedure she picked up on the Internet. All she needs is an ice pack. And a knife.

playin it cool

i am really starting to use this blog thingy a lot ... good thing? maybe ... or maybe i just have way to much time on my hands ...

anyhow, i had my first day of spring classes ... what can i say besides ... kill me now, it is going to be a long six weeks. my day started off with STAS 325 (taking it only because i need a more 300 level options), the description sounded interesting and from what al and shane had said the course is basically a joke ... so i walk in thinking hey it's not going to be so bad. these hopes came crashing down like a house of pornographic playing cards when our prof. walked in ... first question out of her mouth ...

"if there are any tech wizards in the room can you show me how to turn on the lights at the front of the class" ...

hmmm okay, i'll give it to ya the lights are ticky, what else do ya got ...

"okay, so do you guys think this computer has a USB drive?"

*sigh* okay ... maybe you're just really new ... anything else? ...

"ummm ... does anyone know how to work the projector?"

WHAT THE FUCK! in a science and technology class taught by someone who supposedly is on their way to getting their PhD in that topic ... this was a little ridiculous. anyhow about 10 minutes of searching and a call to the tech department we were on our way! finally i could immerse myself in some structured learning situated around pertinent technological issues relating to society. *WRONG AGAIN* the next hour and a half was spent trying to stay awake as our prof. stumbled her way through the course slides trying to 'spark' debate on issues that everybody seemed to agree on. luckily she let the class out about an hour early ... thank goodness ... *on a side note, in a class of about 20 a prof. can usually tell if you are sleeping ... watch out for this*

okay done with the ranting ...

so after a pretty dull day i met up with layial and we decided to hit up dairy queen for some dairy delight ... a good idea ... i think so. anyhow fastforward to us standing near the counter waiting for our order ...

layial: hey ... umm .. is that who i think it is ...
me: *takes a quick look back* ... ummmm ... yup, i believe that's jarome iginla ...
*JAROME IGINLA ... WTF!!*
layial: hmmm, i see, i see
girl behind the counter: OMG ummmmm you're ... ummm ... can i OMG help you ...
jarome: sure i'd like ... blah blah blah ...
girl behind the counter: OMG ahhhhhhh etc. *walks over to her friends behind the counter ...* do you know who that is?!!?!?! OMG ....

the rest of the story of the conversation basically centers around layial and i laughing at the girl behind the counter ... layial checking out jarome ... and jarome standing there looking (extremely hot - thanks layial ... and) awkward.

hhah ... i think we played it pretty cool ... my first brush with quasi-celebrity ... definitley an exciting time! i look forward to my next celeb sighting ... elisha cuthbert here i come! =P

happiness

yesterday i got the chance to visit my baby cousin, joanne dominique ... she was born on may 6th while i was in hamilton so yesterday was the first chance i got to visit her. it was amazing! she's so small and cute ... i was pretty scared to hold her at first because she just seems so fragile. i love her though, she's just so perfect =D ... there's something about babies that seems to put everything in perspective, and make you think about what's really important in life. or maybe thats just me ... anyhow i can't wait to see her again ... i'm such the proud ... ummm cousin.
